Mixed media on aquarel paper 1.50 x 1.20 cm.
Working on a large scale is so much fun. It is so fascinating to see it grow and develop and feel the power in it, the freedom and the softness of little details.

![]() Work in progress. Still want to change some details. It is mixed media, tempera, ink, acrylic and water colour on aquarel paper size 2.30 x 1.50 m. I love the freedom of mouvement when you work on big scale. This work came as a surprise starting on a afternoon whithout any clear idea what would come and why I suddenly had the inclination to pick up this unfinished big sheet again, see it change and develop into something completely different. The foto's at the bottom are some details I liked. A beautiful spring day in the forest.
I would love to buy a big piece of land and give it over to nature to work with it and do whatever she wants to do. In this area it would probably become forest in no time. Forest and little brooks, some ponts, lots of birds would go there, deer and rabbits. I would love to be there altough it might become difficult to walk around when nature finally get her free space back. This is such a beautiful area, with hills, fertile soils and lots of flowers. Whatever you want to grow grows easily. But doing nothing is the best in my point of view, because nature knows how to create the perfect harmony. So happy to be back in painting, after spending a lot of time on other necessary things. I did use oil pastels on top of a tempera painting which before did not completely satisfy me. It gives interesting new possibilities.I love the multitude of layers. It is on aquarel paper size 40 x 50 cm.
I am in the city at the moment. The world around me is in chaos but I do feel calm and stable. Spring is fully there with here beautiful flowers and early in the morning, birds are singing and wake me up. Even here where there are hardly any trees. I can't show that many recent nature photographs.
Especially the black bird seems to tell me stories, memories from long ago. She helps me remeber that there is always another reality behind our daily concerns, a world of goodness, pureness and beauty. The world of the soul, timeless, ageless. There is that touch of melancholy or nostalgy in blackbirds song May be because this world is so often forgotten and seems to be lost in the violence of everyday human life at this moment. But all our troubles have so little meaning in the vastness of eternity. And eternity is so much more real in the universe of endless space and limitless time. So much time. Our little fragments of time in our experience are not that relevant. What I do feel strongly is the love for people close to me, now or in the past. I do feel the strength of that bond. The love which goes beyond time. But the birds seem to be as important as people. With them I share a relational history as well. The same for trees, I do remeber some special moments with some special trees even 30 or 40 years ago. The old trees have such strong and unique characters. With the birds I can not discriminate as easily their individual signature, they all seem to be connected as species. A foto from an eagle I have met 3 years ago. I do not yet have foto's from the blackbirds on the roofs here. |
