Back on the beautiful island of El Hierro with the clean air to breathe and the waves of the ocean. There is a background of profound silence behind every sound. It is such a relief for me to notice that again.
Time to evaluate what I have done.
Writing home, looking for a place which I can call home. The memories of another way of living which feels much more like home. My idealised concept of Nature, living close to nature.
The patterns of nature, growing from chaos to intelligent structures.
My artistic work has always been a way to relate to infinity. Zooming in, immesing myself in the work till there is no scale anymore, no downside or upside an endless continuation. Like fractals patterns develop and start to repeat themselves. I did follow them, watch them.
There are also moments of rupture, geometrical lines and forms which suddenly show up, shifts. I watch them and at the moment concentrate on drawing those shifts. The geometrical language.
How much of infinity can a person contain?
How much of a person can I be?
Infinity always seemed so much more real to me. Not so for the people around me.
I breathe the infinite air and watch the ocean.
To act and make choices requires a limited personal perspective.
Orange is a colour so full of vitallity and joy. it is also a colour which always remembers me of my origin The Netherlands.
The white, the purity, the geometry, the serenity.
