The first days I was in a kind of culture shock. Life here is so extremely different from what my life has been during the summer.
I do find what I was looking for, clean air, clean drinking water and a simple life. But suddenly I discover that I have become used to much more then a simple life. And the different smell in the house and the cockroaches crawling around do disturb me, as do mice ants in the kitchen and mice elsewhere. Minor things tough... but making me feel very tense and a little bit suspicious. The first night I did coincidently locked the door of my bedroom and living space with the key and all my stuff including my cellphone to call for help inside the locked room. As I was trying to relax my tensed and anxious body to be able to think clearly and find a solution, I realised how stressed out I am, how deep my fears are especially for dependency on other people or their rejection. But when I found the courage to ask for help, help did came and everyone I met was so extremely gentle and friendly. So clear that the problem only exists inside. When I managed to be a bit more comfortable in my basic situation and was able to explore the environment around everything changed for the better. There is the fact of living on a volcano, a lot of lava everywhere with the typical black colour and some shades of red and brown. It is strongly precent. And it is amazingly young, so different in feeling from Europe, but very much alive. The slopes of the volcano are very steep so moving around takes a lot of time and effort. There is the ocean never far from what you can see. And on the surface of the ocean are the shades of the clouds moving, there are high waves bumping against the cliffs and winds making white foam or leaving the sea as a mirror. All shades of grey, indigo blue, turquoise, dark dark almost black and white reflecting light. In the middle of the island is a very beautiful forest, with old old trees, mosses , all shades of green, and grey and brown and there is a spring with delicious sweet water. Those are the main natural ingredients and worlds of colours.
