"Les Combarelles"

After a two hours visit to "Les Combarelles" off to the Library and found this copy of the engravings in that cave. So fascinating those webs of lines, with so many layers of animals and abstract symbols. The very precise details and also the very weirdness of undefined beings. Especially in the upper drawing.
And the fluid contour lines, the shading, the detailing, the perspectives, so many possible ways of interpreting what you see.
That was very interesting during the visit: determining what you see is a choice ,in many cases. sometimes alternative interpretations are possible. And of coarse automatically we are inclined to search for the familiar, the recognisable things. Just looking, postponing the interpretation gives such an intense aesthetic experience. and sense of freedom.  Love it!
